The Purple Scarf Doctor is the predecessor to The Castle Doctor.
He was killed by Tayven Merrik due to a misunderstanding involving the Cybermen.
His companion, Emma Ryan, referred to him as "a dashing man in a purple scarf" when she had doubts that The Castle Doctor was in fact the same man as The Purple Scarf Doctor.
